Worship Choir Retreat The dates for the annual Worship Choir Retreat are Friday and Saturday, August 27 and 28. The retreat will once again be held at the Marriott Residence Inn at River Ridge, Oxnard, CA. The retreat will begin with a bar-b-que on Friday night at 5:30 p.m. and will end on Saturday at noon. Please see Steve or Brenda Dixon for more information and to reserve your room.
Whitewater Rafting The Men’s Discipleship Rafting Trip on the American River is only a few days away. For those of you interested, there are still two spots available. The total cost for the adventure is only $140.00, but full and partial scholarships are available if the cost is an issue. Contact David Grimes (661-254-8274) or Pastor Scott if you desire to come or have questions. Important: There will be a short, but mandatory preparation meeting for all participants after church on Sunday, August 8th. During this meeting, we will give you specifics regarding: what to bring and when and where to meet for departure. This will also be the time when you should give the balance of your payment for the trip. Please make plans to attend this meeting immediately after church on Sunday, August 8th.

“Praise the Lord for a good semester at seminary and the good transition to Pr. Almir as new director. Furthermore, we thank the Lord for the good staff relationships in addition to a healthy campus atmosphere. This semester we taught “O.T. Survey I”, “I Corinthians” and “Elemental Theology” in addition to “Analysis of Acts” by extension. Next will be “Elemental Theology”. After the mid-semesterbreak, Tim is scheduled to teach “O.T. Survey II” (Job-Malachi) and a new class, “New Testament Theology”. Please pray for class preparations and God’s blessing in us and through us.”

Larry & Rose Anne Thornburg, serving with ABWE in Spain
Excerpt from July prayer letter:
“We made a one-month trip to the USA in June. Rose Anne was invited to participate in an Apples of Gold conference in Pittsburgh.” This was a wonderful opportunity for her. “The second part of the trip was visiting Randolph Street Baptist Church in Charleston, WV. We spent almost three weeks with Matt, Allison and 2 ½ year old Claire in Denver. The visit came at a time when we needed a break from all that we have gone through in these past 10 months in Spain. It was a tremendous blessing to be part of their lives for this short time and we are grateful to the Lord for this gift.” Please pray for the continuing ministry of the Thornburgs in Spain.

“IT’S OURS! The call from City Hall finally came and the official papers granting the Alameda Church the property were signed in June! We have six months in which to procure the license to build and two years in which to complete the project.”
